Product Introduction

Quartz sand filter is an effective means of removing suspended solids in water, and is an important unit in sewage deep treatment, sewage reuse, and water treatment. Its function is to further remove pollutants that have already been flocculated in water. It achieves the goal of water purification through the interception, sedimentation, and adsorption of filter materials. Quartz sand filters use quartz sand as the filtering medium. The significant feature of this filter material is its large water treatment capacity and stable and reliable effluent quality. The main function of quartz sand is to remove suspended solids, colloids, sediment, and rust from water. By using a water pump to increase pressure, the raw water is filtered through a medium to remove suspended solids in the water, thus achieving the purpose of filtration.

It has detailed filtering efficiency, low resistance, large processing flow, and fewer backflushing times. Applied to the pretreatment of water quality in pure water, food and beverage water, mineral water, electronics, printing and dyeing, papermaking, and chemical industries, as well as the filtration of industrial wastewater after secondary treatment. It is also used for deep filtration in reclaimed water reuse systems and swimming pool circulating water treatment systems. It also has a good removal effect on suspended solids in industrial wastewater.
This type of equipment is a steel pressure filter that can remove suspended solids and mechanical impurities from raw water. According to the different filter materials, mechanical filters are divided into single-layer, double-layer, three-layer filter materials, and fine sand filters; The filter material of quartz sand filter is generally single-layer quartz sand with a particle size of 0.8-1.2mm and a filter layer height of 1.0-1.2m. According to structure, it can be divided into single flow, double flow, vertical, and horizontal; According to the requirements for internal surface anti-corrosion, it is divided into lined rubber type and non lined rubber type.
Applicable conditions

Quartz sand pressure filters are suitable for industrial, rural, urban, residential and other water supply facilities that require filtered water turbidity ≤ 3 milligrams/liter. When using a double-layer filter material filter for direct filtration, the turbidity of the incoming water is often kept below 60 milligrams per liter, and coagulant should be added before filtration. When used for sedimentation filtration, the influent turbidity is ≤ 15 milligrams per liter. Single layer filter media is only suitable for filtering sediment water with inlet turbidity ≥ 15 mg/L.

Mechanical filters have a simple structure and easy operation, making them a commonly used pressure filter and widely used in small boiler water treatment processes. When the suspended solids content in the raw water is less than 30-50mg/L, it can be used as a pretreatment equipment for ion exchange softening (or desalination) process. It can also be used for coarse filtration treatment of process water with different water quality requirements.



Installation and operation

1. When filling quartz sand into the filter, the tightness of the filter cap must be carefully checked to ensure that each cap is securely fastened before filling quartz sand;

2. When constructing the concrete foundation of the pressure filter, holes should be reserved according to the position of the filter support holes, and the filter should be lifted and connected to the pipe assembly after the foundation reaches the design strength.

3During the operation of the filter, the turbidity of the incoming water must not exceed the design specifications, and backwashing must be carried out according to the design requirements. Otherwise, it may shorten the operating cycle or form mud balls in the filter layer, which can seriously affect the quality of the effluent.

4Flushing steps:

aFlushing: Close the inlet pump and inlet gate valve, open the drain gate valve, and backwash according to the design requirements for flushing intensity and flushing time.

bResume operation: Close the drainage gate valve, open the inlet valve and vent valve, start the inlet pump, wait for all air in the filter to be removed, then close the vent valve, and the filter will resume normal operation.

5When several pressure filters are running in parallel, gate valves should be installed on their inlet and outlet pipes.
