Aanderaa Tide Sensor5218/5218R
The wave tide sensor 5218/5218R is used for measuring wave and tide related parameters. The 5218 can be integrated into Andra's Ocean Guardian platform or intelligent data acquisition device, and can also be integrated into other measurement systems through the RS-232 interface. The 5218R design uses RS422 communication for real-time data transmission through a longer cable.

Sensors 5218/5218R measure pressure based on the principle of silicon piezoresistive measurement and use advanced digital processors for temperature compensation. The working mode of sensors is fixed installation, installed on the shallow seabed or on a fixed structure in the water. Typical applications include measuring waves and tides in ports, shipping meteorological forecasting, climate research, etc..
The measurement of tides is the average value of fluid static pressure over a period of time (10 seconds to 8 minutes, set by the user). The data update time range is 1 second to 255 minutes. Wave measurement is the measurement of pressure time series over a period of time (64 seconds to 17 minutes, set by the user), with data update time ranging from 2 seconds to 255 minutes
The sensor output parameters include: pressure, tide level, tidal pressure, temperature, specific wave height, maximum wave height, average period, maximum period, energy wave period, zero crossing period, wave slope, and sea state irregularity.
All calibration information and temperature compensation information are stored in the sensor, which can directly output engineering data without any post-processing. In addition, sensors can also provide raw data for temperature and pressure measurements.
