Basic requirements for flashback arresters：
① It can reliably prevent the propagation of backfire and explosion waves, and quickly eliminate explosive gases into the atmosphere.

④ Easy to control, inspect, clean, and repair.
⑤ It is best to automatically cut off the gas source when tempering occurs.
Classification of flashback arresters：
① According to the working pressure, it is divided into low-pressure (below 0.1MpaM) and medium pressure (0.01-0.15MPa) tempering preventers
② According to the principle of action, it can be divided into water sealed and dry tempering preventers.
③ According to the different parts of the device, it can be divided into centralized and post type flashback arresters.
Construction of tempering preventer：
At present, water sealed tempering arresters are mostly used in China. The use of water sealed flashback arresters should pay attention to the following safety requirements:
① The water volume inside the device shall not be less than the requirements of the water level gauge calibration. The water level should not be too high to avoid acetylene carrying too much water and affecting the flame temperature. After each occurrence of tempering, the water level should be checked and replenished at any time. In addition, the tempering preventer should be hung vertically when in use.
② When used in winter, all water should be drained after work to avoid freezing. If freezing occurs, only hot water or steam can be used for thawing, and it is strictly prohibited to use open flames or red iron for baking.
③ Each post's flashback preventer can only be used separately for one welding torch or cutting torch. ④ Acetylene is prone to producing impurities with viscous oil, so the sealing of the check valve should be checked regularly.
⑤ Before use, the mixture of acetylene and oxygen in the device should be purged.
