MicroVent ultra small capacity animal ventilator (for newborn mice, birds, and other ultra small animals)
Features of the new MicroVent 848 animal ventilator:Quiet, compact, and lightweight
Although it is specifically designed for mice, it is also suitable for other animals with respiratory volumes ranging from 0-130ul and respiratory rates between 60-400 breaths per minute, such as birds and mice during childbirth.
The MicroVent animal ventilator is a constant volume breathing pump based on the Starling principle. Unlike traditional ventilators used for larger animals, this ventilator features a rotating piston without valves. In each respiratory cycle, this piston performs a synchronous motion of forward and rotational movement. Cleverly set small holes and channels in the cylinder and piston to control breathing during each piston stroke.
The ventilator is extremely lightweight (<1.5kg) and compact in structure, making it easy to move to other animals for use. For MicroVent, the tidal volume error is less than 3ul
Tidal volume and respiratory rate can be accurately set. This level of accuracy and control can be used to understand the dangers of hyperventilation and hypoperfusion.
The tidal volume can continuously vary from 0-130ul without stopping the machine during operation. The breathing rate can also be continuously adjusted from 60-400 breaths per minute. The exhaled gas can be collected through a sampling port, recycled by the user, or used to generate PEEP. Indoor gas and other non explosive gas mixtures can be used for gas supply.

INSPIRA intelligent animal ventilator (for animals such as mice, rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, cats, and small dogs)
One ventilator - multiple animals
This is the first ventilator from Harvard Apparatus, capable of providing respiratory assistance to animals ranging from mice to cats. It can provide respiratory rates ranging from 5-200bpm, and this tidal volume can be adjusted within the range of 0.1 to 100ml. This way, you no longer need to purchase multiple ventilators for animals of different sizes.
Easy to use
Simply input the animal's weight to run. The microprocessor will recommend respiratory parameters based on the animal weight input by the user. Users can also set parameters according to their own needs. The instrument has a bright, easy to read display screen and easy-to-use buttons. All gas connection lines are located at the front end together for easy connection. In addition, the gas interface, two analog output ports, one externally triggered interface, and synchronous output interface are also located at the front end of the instrument. There is an RS232 interface at the back of the instrument, which can be used for remote control, data recording, or printing connections.
Ventilation pressure monitoring
The built-in pressure sensor monitors ventilation pressure and can detect pressure below or above the limit. The initial limiting conditions can be selected through the built-in controller.
Safe Range ™ software
Through Safe Range ™ The software can easily and safely set up ASV ventilators, and once the animal's weight is inputted, the software can calculate the volume required for the animal to breathe. All recommended parameters can be reset, and if you set a new volume required for breathing, you can also have the software validate the values you input
help mode
Both volume control and pressure control modes support the assist mode, which can help animals detach from the ventilator. When animals try to start breathing on their own, pressure sensors can detect a decrease in lung pressure. And start a new ventilation cycle. The sensitivity of the help mode can be adjusted from -1 to -10 cmH2O. When the animal's breathing rate is better than the user set breathing rate or the rate calculated by the microprocessor, the breathing machine will allow the animal to breathe on its own
Sighing breathing
Due to prolonged ventilation and the effects of gravity, the lungs of animals will gradually shrink. Use a larger volume of gas than the normal breathing volume to inflate the animal's lungs and intermittently simulate natural sighs. It can cause the lungs to open or expand the atrophied alveoli. The frequency of sighing breathing can be selected by users and can be implemented in ASVV and ASVP. In these two types of ventilators, sigh breathing information can be inputted through the keypad. Pressure mode inputs pressure, while volume mode inputs volume. For these two types of ventilators, sigh breathing can be automatically programmed or manually triggered through the SIGH button on the panel during breathing.
Capacity control and pressure control
Inspira ASVV provides animals with the required tidal volume by precisely controlling the piston stroke, and can adjust the stroke speed (I: E) during breathing. The Inspira ASVP provides gas through a moving piston and continuously detects pressure in the air duct. The microprocessor reads the increasing pressure and compares it with the maximum respiratory pressure set by the user. When the maximum pressure is reached, the piston stops The breathing time determines that at the appropriate time, the exhalation valve opens, and when the PEEP (positive end expiratory pressure) setting is reached, the exhalation valve closes.
PEEP - Positive expiratory pressure (Inspira ASVP)
The Inspira ASVP has the characteristic of positive end expiratory pressure, which allows the pressure to be at or near zero during inhalation at the end of exhalation. When PEEP pressure is reached, the exhalation valve closes until the next inhalation cycle begins. This allows the lungs to maintain positive pressure during the respiratory cycle, which is the normal state of the lungs.
Piston/cylinder components
The Inspira ventilator uses glass and graphite piston/cylinder components and microprocessor controlled mechanical precision control of the breathing process. Two simple and interchangeable piston/cylinder components can provide tidal volumes of 0.1-10ml and 10-100ml. Replacing the piston and cylinder is very simple. Open the top glass cover, unscrew the component, and install a new piston/cylinder component. The ventilator can automatically detect the size of the cylinder. Different flow rate valves control the gas flow during exhalation and inhalation. There is a window that displays the piston/cylinder components working internally.
Can be used for anesthesia purposes
The Inspira ventilator can be used as an anesthesia machine to deliver non flammable anesthetic gases such as nitric oxide, enflurane, halothane, or isoflurane
