Platinum method:

1. Platinum plate method (also known as hanging plate method)
This was first proposed by Wilhelmy in 1863, and is often referred to as the Wilhelmy method. The principle of this method is to measure the tensile force generated by capillary rise when a platinum plate with bristles is parallel to the liquid surface at the bottom and just touches the liquid surface, reaching the value at complete equilibrium.

2. Instrument principle
The measurement principle of this instrument is to insert a platinum plate into a liquid, and the balance value is sensed by a high-precision sensor. This balance value is converted into a surface tension value and displayed through circuit software and hardware. It can also be connected to a computer through an RS232 interface to collect corresponding data.

Advantages of Platinum Plate Method
The platinum plate method has many advantages, such as simple operation, no need for density data, and no need for any calibration calculations, which can obtain completely balanced surface tension value data.

4 Platinum Plate Measurement Operation Method

Before testing, the instrument should be powered on and preheated for at least 30 minutes;

4.2 Clean the platinum plate with running tap water. The water flow should not deform the platinum plate (distilled water should be used). Use tweezers to hold the hook of the platinum plate and burn it on an alcohol lamp until it turns slightly red for about 20-30 seconds. Then hang it on the hook and cool it to room temperature for later use. However, the time should not be too long to prevent the platinum plate from absorbing moisture from the air. If there are organic matter or other pollutants that cannot be cleaned with water, solvents such as acetone, alcohol, toluene, etc. can be used for cleaning or heated with 20% hydrochloric acid for cleaning;

4.3 Clean the glassware with running water and dry it (place it in a dust-proof container for later use). During testing, take a small amount of the tested sample to pre wet the inner wall of the glassware and pour it out (note: this is very important). Then pour in the tested liquid and place the glassware in the sample tray

By connecting a silicone tube to a constant temperature bath, samples with a temperature range of 0-60 ℃ can be used for measurement. It can also be combined with BZY-1/23 temperature measuring device to display the temperature value of the measured liquid.

By connecting a silicone tube to a constant temperature bath, samples with a temperature range of -5~110 ℃ can be used for measurement. And BZY-1/23 temperature measuring device can be optionally used in combination to display temperature values.

The sensor composed of PT100 can be inserted into the sample to detect the temperature of the sample in real time. Display range 0~99 ℃, display accuracy 0.1 ℃.

5. When the surface tension test of the tested liquid needs to be carried out under special temperature conditions (extraordinary temperature) of constant temperature, it can be cyclically matched with our factory's super constant temperature bath or low-temperature constant temperature bath to obtain a high-precision and uniform constant temperature field source.
