- CS655 is a multi parameter intelligent sensor that uses innovative technology to monitor soil volumetric moisture content, conductivity, and temperature. Output SDI-12 signal, compatible with multiple data collectors. The probe length is shorter than CS650 and is used for contaminated soil.
Technical principle:
CS655 consists of two 12 cm long stainless steel probes, a printed circuit board, and a shielded cable. The circuit board is sealed in epoxy resin, and shielded cables are used to connect the circuit board to the data collector. CS655 directly measures conduction time, signal attenuation, and temperature; The dielectric constant, volumetric water content, and conductivity are derived from these raw values. The measured signal attenuation is used to correct the loss effect in reflection detection, thereby obtaining accurate conduction time. This loss effect correction can enable moisture content measurement to reach EC ≤ 8 dS m-1 without the need for special soil calibration.
The soil conductivity is also calculated from attenuation measurements, and the thermistor and probe are in thermal contact near the surface of the epoxy resin to measure temperature. Just like measuring moisture content, horizontally installed probes provide accurate soil temperature measurements at the same depth. Temperature measurements in other directions are transmitted into the epoxy resin through probes within the area.
