Overview of Horizontal Disc Drying Machine Equipment

The disc dryer, as an indirect heating drying equipment, has been applied in the chemical industry, food industry, and feed industry for decades. The main body of the disc dryer consists of a cylindrical outer shell and a set of centrally penetrating discs. The heat medium flows through the hollow disk group and indirectly transfers heat to the material through the disks. The material passing between the disk and the shell is heated by the heat conduction of the disk, evaporating water. The water vapor formed by drying gathers in the dome above the disk and is carried out of the dryer by a small amount of hot air. The disc dryer utilizes the double-sided heat transfer of each disc, which can provide a large heat exchange area in a small space, making the disc dryer compact in size.

Working principle of horizontal disc dryer
The disc dryer is mainly composed of a stator (shell), a rotor (turntable), and a driving device. The central shaft of the rotor is the load-bearing component of the drying turntable, which is a hollow shaft on which all the turntables are welded. The disc dryer uses the pushing and stirring effect of the turntable edge to evenly and slowly transport wet materials through the entire dryer, and is dried by thermal contact with the turntable. During the drying process, hot steam condenses on the inner wall of the turntable chamber, forming condensed water. The condensed water is introduced into the central pipe through a pipe and finally exported out of the dryer through an outlet groove. A scraper is installed between every two disks, and the scraper is fixed on the housing (stator). Scrapers can loosen the material between the discs, allowing waste steam to quickly leave the sludge.

Performance characteristics of horizontal disc dryer
(1) The rotor and cylinder of the horizontal disc dryer are designed to be compact and reasonable, with low space occupancy. The dryer has a large heat transfer area per unit volume and fast drying speed; Having a large heat exchange surface within the effective volume of the unit, the equipment size can be reduced, and the processing time can be shortened;
(2) The spindle rotates at a constant speed, the material is uniformly stirred, the drying force is uniform, and the product particle size is uniform;
(3) By adjusting the speed, process (intermittent or continuous), and drying time, the adjustable sludge drying effect can achieve different final moisture contents, such as reducing the sludge moisture content from around 80% to 40%, 30%, 25%, etc;
(4) High thermal efficiency, good mixing and stir frying effect, with 4 to 8 plates per disc for better stir frying performance, and automatic cleaning function for dual axis rotating discs;
(5) Dry particles have strong motion regularity and minimal wear on the components, making them suitable for sludge material drying equipment.
(6) The heating disc is pressed as a whole with few welds, strong corrosion and wear resistance, low disc running resistance, and low equipment vibration;
(7) The two axis embedding method can form a thin layer of material with animal material on the blade, achieving the effect of thin layer heat transfer;
(8) The relative rotation of the two axes and the action of the scraper can scrape off a large amount of adhesive material stuck to the rotor, keeping the heat exchange surface clean and automatically cleaning, ensuring stable heat exchange effect;
(9) Wide range of material processing: It can be widely used for particles, powders, and viscous materials. It can dry materials with high or low moisture content, and can be operated continuously or intermittently. It is a highly applicable and energy-saving drying equipment.
(10) Low energy consumption: The spindle speed is low, and the material conveying system requires less power and consumes less electricity. Drying with conductive heat results in high thermal efficiency and low energy consumption. 1.1-1.2 Steam/kg/water.
