Purpose:
This instrument is suitable for on-site determination of the density of coarse-grained soil. It consists of a chassis, a sand filling funnel, a bulk density bottle, and a valve. The structure is sturdy and durable, and is made of stainless steel material. The capacity of the sand bottle has been strictly calculated and designed, and calibrated with an electronic balance within a range of 5g to provide reliable data for experiments. The sand filling funnel is 135mm high, and the sand bottle capacity is 4L. There are also a series of products (plastic, iron sheet) to choose from.
Functional and parameter requirements:
Adopting the ring knife method, using a guide rod and a falling hammer to apply pressure to the ring knife
Instrument configuration requirements:
2 ring knives, 2 ring knife pressure blocks, 1 directional cylinder, 1 guide rod, 1 drop hammer, 2 knobs, 1 handheld electronic balance (1000g./0.1g)
Operation steps:
Sticky soil: At the test site, a piece of ground with an area of about 30 * 30 square centimeters should be leveled. When checking the compaction amount of the fill, the surface uncompacted soil layer should be removed completely, and a part of the compacted soil layer should be removed (the depth depends on the need), so that the specified soil depth can be reached after the ring knife is cut.
Use toothed nails to fix the directional cylinder on the leveled ground. Put the ring knife and ring cover into the directional cylinder in sequence.
Then, depending on the dryness, wetness, and compactness of the soil, one of the following methods can be used to press or drive the ring knife into the soil.
