Air cooler is a type of cooler that uses air as a heat exchange medium for heat exchange, and the heat is carried away by the air, so it is also called an air cooler. Generally speaking, the heat dissipation effect of an air cooler mainly depends on the heat exchange area and air volume of its component radiator. Simply put, for the same heat exchange area, the larger the air volume, the better the heat dissipation effect. For the same air volume, the larger the heat exchange area, the better the heat dissipation effect. In terms of naming conventions, it is also known as oil cooler or air-cooled oil cooler, aluminum alloy plate fin air cooler.

An air cooler is a heat exchanger that uses air to cool a hot fluid. The hot fluid inside the tube exchanges heat with the air outside the tube through the tube wall and fins, and the air used is usually supplied by a ventilation fan. The type and material of the air cooler tube bundle have a significant impact on the performance of the air cooler. Due to the small heat transfer coefficient on the air side, fins are often added to the tube to increase the heat transfer area and fluid turbulence, reducing thermal resistance. Most air coolers use radial fins. At present, air coolers usually use light tubes with an outer diameter of 25mm, low fin tubes with a fin height of 12.5mm, and high fin tubes with a fin height of 16mm. Fins are generally made of materials with high thermal conductivity (the most commonly used being aluminum) and wrapped or embedded onto light tubes. To enhance the heat transfer efficiency of the air cooler, water can be sprayed into the inlet air for humidification. This not only lowers the air temperature but also increases the heat transfer coefficient. The use of air coolers can save a large amount of industrial water, reduce environmental pollution, and lower infrastructure costs. Especially in water scarce areas, replacing water cooling with air cooling can alleviate the contradiction of insufficient water sources.
