IZOD impact strength testing machine
The IZOD impact strength testing machine calculates the impact strength of the test piece based on the energy absorbed by the fracture of the test pie
Product details

plasticIZOD impact strength testing machine

Principle:
1. PlasticIZOD impact strength testing machineCalculate the impact strength of the test piece based on the energy absorbed during fracture and the length (ASTM) or cross-sectional area (ISO&GB) of the groove on the test piece.
2. The energy absorbed by the fracture of the test piece is equal to the difference in energy before and after the impact of the pendulum.
3. The distance from the impact line to the specimen fixture is fixed, and for notched specimens, the distance from the impact line to the centerline of the notch is fixed

Terminology and definitions of plastic IZOD impact testing machine
Impact strength (IZOD): The value obtained by dividing the energy absorbed by the fracture of the test piece by the length of the groove on the test piece.
Fracture type of test piece (IZOD TYPE):
In ASTM D256:
C: Complete Break - A test piece that breaks into two or more pieces.
H: Hinge break - incomplete fracture, the degree of which is when one part of the test piece is vertically clamped, and the other part
Cannot support above the horizontal line (angle less than 90 degrees).
P: Partial Break - Incomplete fracture, whose degree does not meet the definition of H, but the fracture extends at least to the bottom of the notch
90% of the distance between the back.
N: Non Break - Non Break, with a fracture extension less than 90% of the distance between the bottom of the notch and its back.
2.2 In ISO 180:2000/Amd. 1:2006 (E) and GB/T1843-2008:
C: Complete Break - The specimen breaks into two or more sections.
H: Hinge break - incomplete failure of a specimen without rigid thin skin connected together.
P: Partial Break - Incomplete damage other than hinge failure.
N: Non Break - No damage has occurred, only bending deformation, and there may be a phenomenon of stress whitening.

Testing Instrument: PlasticHammer head with nominal energy of 1.0~25J

Testing standards: GB/T 1843、 ISO 180、ASTM D256。
Test program:
ASTM D 256-10 Method A (IZOD TYPE)
1.1 If the test piece is a molded specimen, prepare at least 5 test pieces; If the test piece is a sheet material, it may be anisotropic material. At least 5 test pieces should be prepared along the edge wise and flat wise directions, and the shape and scale of the test pieces should be as shown in Figure 2. Check the size of the test piece using a scorecard and optical projector, and record it.
1.2 Select an IZOD TYPE pendulum with an appropriate nominal energy, and impact the cylindrical surface with a blade tip radius of 0.79 ± 0.12mm, as shown in the following figure, so that the energy required to break the test piece does not exceed 85% of the nominal energy. Note: If there are several pendulum energies that meet this requirement simultaneously, the lightest pendulum should be selected for testing.
1.3 Fix the test piece to the test piece support according to the following diagram, and use a torque meter to clamp the test piece for clamping pressure fixation. After testing, calculate the energy absorbed by the test piece and record the type of fracture of the test piece.
If it is found after testing that the energy absorbed by the fracture of the test piece does not meet 10~85% of the nominal energy used, an appropriate nominal energy shall be selected again and the test shall be repeated.

ISO 180:2000/Amd. 1:2006 (E) and GB/T1843-2008:

2.1 Adjust the testing environment. Unless otherwise specified in the test material standard, the test should be conducted in accordance with GB/T 2918-1998 at 23 ℃ and 50% RH for at least 16 hours, or according to the conditions agreed upon by relevant parties. The state adjustment time of the notched specimen should be calculated after the notch processing.

2.2 Measure the thickness and width of the middle of each specimen or the remaining width of the notched specimen, accurate to 0.02mm.

2.3 Check that the energy of the broken sample is within the range of 10% to 80% of the capacity of the pendulum. If all requirements are met, choose the hammer with the highest specified energy.

2.4 Clamp the specimen, release the pendulum, record the impact energy and type of damage.

The failure types of GB/T1843-2008/ISO 180:2000/Amd. 1:2006 (E) are divided into three types: C (complete failure including H hinge failure) - Complex break, Including hinge break, P (partial break) - Partial break, N (non break) - Non break

Plastic IZOD Impact Strength TesterUsed to determine the impact toughness of non-metallic materials such as plastics, reinforced nylon, fiberglass, ceramics, cast stones, plastic appliances, insulation materials, etc. This machine is a commonly used equipment for quality inspection in scientific research institutions, colleges and universities, and non-metallic material manufacturers. It is an instrument with a simple structure, easy operation, and high testing accuracy. This machine complies with ISO179-92, The requirements of GB1043-93 standard. The electronic impact testing machine adopts circular grating angle measurement technology, which has the characteristics of high accuracy, good stability, and large measurement range. It can digitally measure impact strength, pre elevation angle, elevation angle, and average value, automatically correct energy loss, and print test reports.

The plastic IZOD impact strength tester complies with the international standard ISO180-1992 "Plastics - Determination of impact strength of rigid materials cantilever beams"; National standard GB/T1843-1996 "Hard plasticsTest Methods "and Mechanical Industry Standard JB/T8761-1998" Plastics》.
