The overall flow formed by the liquid in the stirring tank is a large axial and tangential circulation, with low turbulence, suitable for mixing low viscosity miscible liquids, suspending solid particles, and enhancing heat transfer in the tank.

Propeller type: small diameter, high speed, large flow rate, low pressure head.
Spiral belt type: large rotation radius, wide stirring range, low rotation speed, small pressure head, suitable for stirring high viscosity liquids.

The liquid undergoes tangential and radial vortex motion in the groove, resulting in a complex overall flow. Suitable for stirring medium and low viscosity liquids, especially for dispersing immiscible liquids, dissolving gases and solids, liquid-phase reactions, and heat transfer operations. Not suitable for systems that are prone to stratification.

Turbine type: high speed, wide blades, lower flow rate and higher pressure head compared to propeller type.
Flat blade slurry type: The blades are longer and the rotation speed is slower, resulting in lower pressure head. Can be used for stirring higher viscosity liquids.
Anchor type and frame type: with a larger rotation radius (only slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the reaction tank), a wider stirring range, lower rotation speed, and smaller pressure head, suitable for stirring higher viscosity liquids and often used to prevent sedimentation on the reactor wall.

The liquid rushes towards the wall under centrifugal force, causing the liquid level in the central part to drop and form a large vortex. The higher the rotational speed, the deeper the vortex formed. The effective volume decreases and there is almost no axial mixing, resulting in a decrease in stirring effect. In severe cases, negative pressure may occur, causing air to be drawn in from the surface and preventing the mixer from operating properly. Solution: Install a baffle in the slot. Excessive baffles will reduce overall flow and limit mixing to localized areas, resulting in poor mixing performance.

The agitator is essentially a pump, and the power provided by any impeller will generate pumping flow and pressure head. Its power can be expressed as N=QH * p. When N is the same, it can generate both high flow and low pressure head, as well as high pressure head and low flow head;
All the power provided by the impeller to the liquid is used to generate flow and pressure head; Different processes have different requirements for Q and H. For example, the mixing of low viscosity homogeneous liquids requires a large pumping flow rate, while gas-liquid mixing requires strong shear action. To achieve low power consumption and good mixing effect, the mixing device should be configured correctly according to the process requirements and power consumption should be allocated reasonably. Under the condition of equal power, larger diameter and low-speed impellers consume more power in the overall flow. Small diameter, high-speed impellers consume more power in turbulence.
