High precision and long-term stable CH4 sensor in water

CONTROS HydroC ® CH4 is a single sensor used for in-situ or online measurement of CH4 partial pressure (pCH4) in water. This multifunctional sensor provides an ideal solution for precise measurement of CH4 background values or CH4 peak values in deep-sea environments.

working principle

CH4 molecules dissolved in water diffuse through a novel TOUGH ultra-thin permeable membrane into the internal gas circuit of the sensor, enter the detector chamber, and measure CH4 concentration using tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS). The concentration of CH4 is closely related to the laser absorption intensity. After calibration coefficients stored inside the instrument and calculation correction of additional sensor data in the gas circuit, the absorption intensity is converted into a measured output value.

High precision and stability

Based on the narrow spectral line advantage of tuning diode laser detector, HydroC ® The CH4 sensor has high accuracy and can accurately detect the content of CH4 molecules in water. Its dynamic range of background partial pressure can reach 40 μ atm. Each detector undergoes precise calibration and strict quality inspection before integration, and is independently calibrated in the calibration slot to ensure accurate calibration results. Each measurement will tune the laser detector based on the CH4 absorption wavelength and non absorption wavelength to compensate for the effects of potential drift and achieve long-term stability of the sensor.
