EFM-022 Tester Description
EFM-022 is a compact and lightweight handheld digital electrostatic field tester that can measure the surface electrostatic potential of charged objects from 0V to+/-200kV in a non-contact manner at different distances.
All components of EFM-022 do not contain radioactive materials!
EFM-022 uses a rotating blade probe to measure electrostatic field strength. The rotating blade design has higher sensitivity than the vibration type and is more suitable for continuous long-term measurement. The instrument casing is made of EMV plastic, which can effectively shield interference signals. The measured value is displayed on the LCD screen, with the selected test distance displayed in the * line and the reading displayed in the second line.

When using EFM-022 for measurement, the instrument needs to be grounded (through a matching grounding wire) in order to display the potential and polarity correctly. Due to the conductive material used in the instrument casing, the instrument itself can be grounded without a grounding wire when the tester is well grounded

EFM-022 Instrument Maintenance
Do not touch the detection head to prevent foreign objects such as dust, paint, liquids, etc. from falling into the detection head. After prolonged use, the probe can be cleaned with a clean cotton swab and pure alcohol. be careful! Be careful when cleaning the probe, as losing balance of the rotating blades can cause testing errors or even malfunctions.

Reset adjustment: Under normal circumstances, the instrument does not need to be reset to zero. If the startup screen cannot display U=000 after long-term use, you can use a cross shaped screwdriver to insert into the reset hole on the right side of the instrument panel and rotate the internal adjustment screw to force reset.
Accuracy adjustment: There is an accuracy adjustment hole behind the QC label on the left side of the instrument. When calibrating the instrument, a small cross screwdriver can be inserted into this hole and the internal adjustment screw can be rotated to adjust the test accuracy
The product warranty period is 1 year. Damage caused by incorrect operation or human error is not covered by the warranty. Please do not open the instrument casing, otherwise you will lose your warranty rights. During the warranty period, product calibration and repair are free of charge, but do not include round-trip shipping costs to the original factory.
EFM-022 instrument calibration
After using the EFM-022 tester for one year, the instrument needs to be calibrated. The calibration steps are as follows:
Place the detection head of the instrument into the circular hole of the calibration electrode plate (the calibration electrode plate consists of two 200 x 200mm metal plates)
Connect the DC high voltage generator and DC voltmeter as shown in the diagram
Determine the grounding of the test table
Power on and connect 2 metal plates with wires to reset, or use a screwdriver to insert into the small hole on the right side of the EFM-022 body to force reset
Adjust the output voltage of the high-voltage generator to 400V potential, and the reading of EFM-022 should be within+/-5% range (380V-420V)
Test 1600V, 4000V, and 8000V sequentially, and the reading of EFM-022 should be within+/-5% range
If the above potential is tested and the readings on the test meter are within+/-5%, it indicates that it is qualified
If it exceeds the+/-5% range, open the QC sticker on the left side of the body, and there is a rotary adjuster at the back to adjust the accuracy
If the regulator cannot adjust the accuracy within the range of+/-5%, the instrument must be returned to the manufacturer for testing and repair

The EFM-022 electrostatic field tester is equipped with a 20pF 75mm x 150mm charging plate and a grounding plate. The CPS-022 high-voltage generator can apply a voltage of+/-1000V or more to the charging plate. The EFM-022 has a built-in timer that measures the time required for the voltage on the charging plate to decay from 1000V to 100V, and also measures the ion balance induced by the plate. After installing as described above, turn on EFM-022 and press and hold the [function/on] key for about 2 seconds to enter the setting mode. When the screen displays "change distance", each press of the [function/on] key will cycle through the following steps, select CPS Mode.

Test description:
The left side of CPS-022 high-voltage generator is the (-) discharge electrode, and the right side is the (+) discharge electrode. Press the<Press>button to generate a voltage of over 1100V on the discharge electrode. Touch the discharge electrode to the charging plate, and the EFM-022 tester will display the voltage on the charging plate (usually higher than 1100V). When the ion wind blows towards the charging plate, the voltage on the charging plate begins to decrease. When the voltage drops to 1000V, the timer is triggered and starts counting. When the voltage on the charging plate drops to 100V, the timing stops. Then start testing the ion balance (the difference between positive and negative ions).
Kleinwachter EFM-022-CPS electrostatic field test kit from Germany. Test steps:
1) First, test the time it takes for+1000V to decay to+100V. Touch the charging plate with the positive discharge electrode of CPS-022, and then face the electrode plate towards the ion fan (30cm away). The voltage on the charging plate begins to decay, and the screen displays the time in the * line and the voltage in the second line. Stop timing when the voltage reaches+100V. After the attenuation test is completed, the instrument continues to test the ion balance. The screen displays the decay time in * line and the ion balance sensed by the electrode plate in the second line. At this point, record the measured data.
2) After testing the positive voltage decay, press the [function/on] button once to return the screen to CPS Mode. Use the negative discharge electrode of CPS-022 to touch the charging plate, and then start testing the decay time and ion balance (the same process as the positive voltage decay test).
3) Press the [function/on] key again to start a new test.
