·Electrodes and helmets: Rats and mice need to be equipped with different types of electrodes and fixators;
·Cable: Connect the current converter and preamplifier, with a metal spring tube wrapped around the outside of the cable to prevent animals from biting it;
·Data monitoring and acquisition system: perform a second amplification and filtering of data before it is transmitted to the software;
Main components:
Head electrode and fixator
The fixation of a certain segment's pin is achieved by attaching four EEG or EMG electrode wires to a micro pin. The electrode channels of the other two electrodes are EEG. The time fixator connects the surgery and allows for multiple arrangements of electrodes, providing a plug and play wire connection method.
Pre signal amplifier
Secure the front mount to the animal's head using a screw.
High pass filtering: 0.5Hz EEG, 10Hz EMG (sleep study); Or 1.0Hz EEG, 10Hz EMG (epilepsy)
Gain: X100 (sleep), X10 (epilepsy)
Steel rope wrapped with data cable
An 18 inch cable is connected to the preamplifier through a rotating wheel. The outer layer of the wires in the cable is protected by a layer of metal spring wire.
Universal swivel wheel for anti entanglement and uninterrupted communication
The anti entanglement wheel is fixed at the top of the animal cage. The two plugs of the wheel are set to allow the movable rod to rotate in different directions in a balanced manner
data acquisition and analysis software
The system is equipped with a Data Acquisition and Expander (DCAS), which transmits data to EEG acquisition and analysis software through data cables.

Wireless EEG/EMG measurement and analysis system
A lightweight, head mounted Bluetooth wireless model for rats that can simultaneously measure three bioelectrical potentials and present real-time data for review. The battery life is up to 36 hours, using ready-made batteries. For longer studies, detachable battery packs can be quickly and easily replaced. Stream data to a computer using a small USB dongle receiver and standard Sirenia software suite. In addition, the rat EEG/EMG electrode placement system, which has been extensively validated through practice, can ensure rapid preparation of experiments and consistency and reliability of experimental data.
Integrated video recording
Provided a platform for synchronizing EEG and EMG changes with observable behavioral states. Videos can be added to any new or existing hardware system. The captured video is displayed in real-time on the screen as it is streamed from animals and synchronized with other recorded data in playback mode.
The above image shows the real-time display of the captured video along with EEG, EMG, and/or biosensor (chemical substance) data on the software.
Using Pinnacle's advanced analysis software can automatically perform sleep scoring and seizure recognition processes, saving time and resources. SIRENIA®SEIZURE PRO and SIRENIA®SLEEP PRO allows users to create customizable reports and charts for publications and presentations. In addition, third-party EDF files can be imported for analysis.
Chemical Brain Real time Monitoring Module:
Fast scanning cyclic voltammetry (FSCV) detection method is used for the measurement of catecholamines (ethylamine, norepinephrine, adrenaline). The telemetry system is suitable for models that can freely detect animals in the active state of the system.

Rapid scanning cyclic voltammetry system
Pinnacle's fast scan cyclic voltammetry (FSCV) system is specifically designed to simplify the measurement of catecholamines (i.e. dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin). The Pinnacle wireless rat system and tethered mouse system both use carbon fiber sensors to achieve short-term measurements of the brains of freely moving animals.
How it works
Detecting levels of biogenic amines by rapidly cycling voltage and measuring the generated current on an implanted carbon fiber sensor. Our system can measure spontaneous sub second neurotransmitter release events during detailed behavioral research. Both wireless and tethered systems scan within the range of 250 to 400 V/s, with a user selectable range of -1.1 to+1.3 V. All systems have built-in support for controlling external stimuli.
Voltage span:- 1.1 V to+1.3 V
Range: 250-400 V/s
Scan per second: 5-10
Points/Scan: 1000
analysis
Dopamine (blue), serotonin (green), and norepinephrine (pink) exhibit specific voltammograms when detected by FSCV.
The TETHERED rapid scanning cyclic voltammetry (FSCV) system allows researchers to utilize the powerful genetics of mouse models to address potential mechanisms of neurotransmitter release and function in biology. The head mounted FSCV board sends signals to the interface box through a low torque commutator, which streams data to the host PC. The system is equipped with Pinnacle's free 8500 software.

1. The FSCV interface box provides access to the excitation line and transmits data to the PAL-8500 software.
2. The low torque commutator installed above the cage allows for unobstructed free movement.
3. The signal is amplified and filtered in the animal's head using our head amplifier to ensure clean and artifact free data is provided.
4. The stereotactic guided insertion tube allows for easy insertion of carbon fiber sensors. Headmounts are fixed on the skull with dental acrylic and serve as connection ports for the Headstage.
Carbon fiber
Pinnacle's FSCV system uses carbon fiber sensors (CFS) to measure the presence of dopamine and other catecholamines in the brains of freely moving animals.
The sensor is a carbon fiber with a diameter of 34 µ m, encapsulated in a silica sheath, extending 0.5 mm beyond the end of the silica.
All Pinnacle CFS require an Ag/AgCl reference electrode.
Carbon fiber sensor
Carbon fiber sensors are sorted by sleeve type and whether researchers need to remove them from the sleeve for post calibration.
The CFS-F sensor is fixed in the catheter and cannot be removed for later calibration.
FSCV PAL-8500 software package
The FSCV system includes Pinnacle's free PAL-8500 software:
This software supports traditional short recording mode (two minutes or shorter recording) as well as long-term recording using extended continuous mode;
In addition, the suite supports integrated synchronous video recording, which can monitor the release of biogenic amines while monitoring animal behavior.
Other features of the software include:
Background subtraction
• 3D visualization
• User selectable filters
• Heat map
• Animated voltammogram
• Export to third-party packages
