Multi-media filter

Multi media filter is a process that uses one or several filtering media to pass water with high turbidity through a certain thickness of granular or non granular materials under a certain pressure, effectively removing suspended impurities and clarifying water. Commonly used filter media include quartz sand, anthracite, manganese sand, etc., mainly used for water treatment turbidity removal, softening water, and pre-treatment of pure water.

Multi media filter (filter bed), which uses two or more media as the filter layer, is used in industrial circulating water treatment systems to remove impurities, adsorbed oil, etc. in sewage, so that the water quality meets the requirements of recycling.
Filter composition
A multi-media filter is mainly composed of a filter body, supporting pipelines, and valves.

1、 Multi media filter
Multi media filters commonly used in water treatment include anthracite quartz sand magnetite filters, activated carbon quartz sand magnetite filters, activated carbon quartz sand filters, quartz sand ceramic filters, etc.
The filter layer design of a multi-media filter mainly considers the following factors:
1. Different filter media have a large density difference, ensuring that there will be no mixing phenomenon after backwashing disturbance.
2. Select filter media according to the purpose of water production.
3. The particle size requirement is that the particle size of the lower filter material is smaller than that of the upper filter material to ensure the effectiveness and full utilization of the lower filter material.
2、 Quartz sand filter
Quartz sand filters can effectively remove suspended solids in water and have a significant removal effect on pollutants such as colloids, iron, organic matter, pesticides, manganese, bacteria, viruses, etc. It has the advantages of low filtration resistance, large specific surface area, strong acid and alkali resistance, oxidation resistance, pH range of 2-13, and good pollution resistance. The unique advantage of quartz sand filter is that it optimizes the design of filter material and filter to achieve adaptive operation of the filter. The filter material has strong adaptability to raw water concentration, operating conditions, pre-treatment processes, etc., that is, the filter bed automatically forms an upper sparse and lower dense state during filtration, which is conducive to ensuring the water quality of the effluent under various operating conditions. During backwashing, the filter material is fully dispersed, and the cleaning effect is good. Sand filters have the advantages of fast filtration speed, high filtration accuracy, and large interception capacity.
The quartz sand filter equipment has the characteristics of simple structure, automatic control during operation, large processing flow rate, few backflushing times, high filtration efficiency, low resistance, and easy operation and maintenance.
3、 Activated carbon filter
The filter material is activated carbon, which is used to remove color, odor, residual chlorine, and organic matter. Its main mode of action is adsorption, and activated carbon is an artificially made adsorbent. Due to its developed pore structure and large specific surface area, activated carbon has strong adsorption capacity for soluble organic compounds such as benzene and phenolic compounds in water. It also has good removal effects on organic pollutants that are difficult to remove by biological and chemical methods, such as chromaticity, odor, surfactants, synthetic detergents, and dyes. Granular activated carbon achieves a plasma removal rate of over 85% for Ag ^+, Cd ^ 2+, CrO4 ^ 2- in water. After passing through the activated carbon filter bed, the suspended solids in the water are less than 0.1mg/L, the COD removal rate is generally 40%~50%, and the free chlorine is less than 0.1mg/L.
4、 Iron manganese filter
Fill refined manganese sand and quartz sand binary filter media for removing iron and manganese from water. It is generally only used in the pretreatment of raw water containing iron and manganese.
