OptoCrown ™It is an optical sensor based on light reflection technology, designed for non-contact linear measurement. The sensor transmits a beam of fiber light to the part and receives light from the part being measured through two separate fiber lights connected to two receivers. The distance between the sensor and the surface of the part can be determined by the intensity of the reflected light.
After proper calibration of the sensor, any type of material can be measured. Although Marposs can provide pre calibrated sensors on customer materials, users can independently perform further calibration. Due to the special configuration of fiber optics, changes in the reflectivity of the measured surface must not affect the sensor.
