The EM-500 series launched by Pyxis is an online algae water quality analyzer. Chlorophyll a is the main photosynthetic pigment of algae and an important indicator for evaluating algal biomass. Chlorophyll a can emit fluorescence under excitation light, and its fluorescence intensity is proportional to the concentration of chlorophyll a. The analysis of total algae in water bodies is based on in-situ detection of chlorophyll a fluorescence characteristics in algal cells, in order to evaluate the biomass of algae in water bodies.

Cyanobacteria is the dominant population during algal blooms in water bodies, and the microcystins produced by cyanobacteria are possible carcinogens with tumor promoting effects and can lead to primary liver cancer. The unique phycocyanin of blue-green algae (phycocyanin in seawater) is an effective feature that distinguishes blue-green algae from total algae and phytoplankton. The blue-green algae analyzer utilizes the weak fluorescence characteristics of phycocyanin and phycoerythrin at different excitation wavelengths to monitor the biomass of living blue-green algae in water samples.

This series of products can detect chlorophyll a and blue-green algae in water samples. No need for extraction and pretreatment, online real-time detection, simple and convenient, integrating Pyxis' advanced technology in optical measurement.

The EM-500 series online algae probe adopts fluorescence detection technology with high sensitivity. The probe can be assembled into a customized tee, which has two three-quarters inch (DN20) NPT internal threaded openings for easy installation into the same three-quarters inch (DN20) water intake circuit. The online probe has an internally isolated 4-20mA current output and can be connected to any controller that supports isolated or non isolated 4-20mA inputs;

The design of the EM-500 series online algae probe makes it very easy to clean, which can avoid the accumulation of impurities from affecting the measurement.

  • Before leaving the factory, the probe undergoes pressure aging testing and pre calibration to ensure stability and reliability, and can be directly put into operation on site;
  • Standard IP67 aviation connector, can be directly connected to Pyxis UC-100/UC-1000 universal controller;
  • Optional submerged installation components, suitable for monitoring sludge concentration in sewage, tap water and other filter tanks;
