Perfluoroalkyl compounds (PFAS) are a widely used group of industrial compounds that are resistant to degradation and have been widely present in environmental and human samples from around the world. Due to their inertness, PFAS are used in the pipelines and other liquid contact parts of HPLC systems, which can immerse into the mobile phase and interfere with sample analysis. When analyzed at trace levels, such as in the health consultation level of drinking water PPT, this pollution is particularly problematic. Due to the fact that many laboratories analyze at the single digit ppt level and strive for sub ppt level detection, PFAS contamination of HPLC components may hinder the accurate identification and quantification of PFAS in samples. To eliminate this issue, Restek's new PFAS delay column captures and 'delays' PFAS related to the system, preventing them from interfering with sample analysis. This delayed column is a universal solution that can be used with any type of HPLC or UHPLC system up to 15000 psi (1034 bar) and any analytical column (fully porous or surface porous).
