1、 Introduction to PM2.5 Online Laser Sensor Detection Module
BYC-01 is a digital universal particle concentration sensor based on the principle of laser scattering. It can continuously collect and calculate the number of suspended particles of different sizes in the air per unit volume, that is, the particle concentration distribution, and then convert it into mass concentration, and output it in the form of a universal digital interface. This sensor can be embedded in various instruments or environmental improvement devices related to the concentration of suspended particulate matter in the air, providing timely and accurate concentration data
2、 Working principle of PM2.5 online laser sensor detection module
This sensor adopts the principle of laser scattering. Even if the laser is irradiated on suspended particles in the air to generate scattering, and the scattered light is collected at a specific angle, the curve of the scattered light intensity changing with time can be obtained. Furthermore, the microprocessor utilizes algorithms based on the Mie theory to obtain the equivalent particle size of particles and the number of particles of different sizes per unit volume. The block diagram of each functional part of the sensor is shown in Figure 1:

Output result
The main output is the mass concentration of various concentrations of particulate matter per unit volume, measured in micrograms per cubic meter. The output is divided into two states: active output and passive output. The default state of the sensor after power on is active output, which means that the sensor actively sends serial data to the host with a time interval of 200-800ms. The higher the concentration of particulate matter in the air, the shorter the time interval. Active output is divided into two modes: steady mode and fast mode. When the concentration of particulate matter in the air changes slightly, the sensor output is in a steady mode, that is, it outputs the same set of values every three times, and the actual data update cycle is about 2 seconds. When the concentration of particulate matter in the air changes significantly, the sensor output automatically switches to fast mode, and each output is a new value. The actual data update cycle is 200-800ms. Typical circuit connections

PM2.5 online laser sensor detection moduleCircuit design should pay attention to:
BYC-01 requires 5V power supply because the fan requires 5V drive. But other data communication and control pins require 3.3V as a high level. Therefore, the motherboard MCU connected to it for communication should be powered by 3.3V. If the motherboard MCU is powered by 5V, a level conversion chip or circuit should be added to the communication lines (RXD, TXD) and control lines (SET, RESET).
2. SET and RESET have pull-up resistors inside, and if not used, they should be suspended.
3. PIN7 and PIN8 are internal debugging tests of the program, and should be left suspended in the application circuit.
4. When using the sleep function, it should be noted that the fan stops working during sleep, and restarting the fan requires at least 30 seconds of stable time. Therefore, in order to obtain accurate data, the sensor should not work for less than 30 seconds after waking up from sleep.
