In the electroplating and coating industry, in order to increase the surface smoothness, brightness, and adhesion of the plated parts, pure water with a conductivity of 15uS/cm-5uS/cm or less is required for the preparation of the electroplating solution. In addition, pure water with a conductivity of 10uS/cm or less is also needed for cleaning the plated parts during rinsing. Ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis can also be used to recover precious metal ions from the rinsing solution, and the infiltrated water can be returned for cleaning the plated parts.

Clean production refers to continuously adopting measures such as improving design, using clean energy and raw materials, adopting advanced technology and equipment, improving management, and comprehensive utilization to reduce pollution from the source, improve resource utilization efficiency, reduce or avoid the generation and emission of pollutants in the production, service, and product use processes, in order to reduce or eliminate harm to human health and the environment.
The industry standards for clean production in the electroplating industry have long been established internationally. In 2006, China's State Environmental Protection Administration organized relevant professionals to study and draft the "Clean Production Technology Requirements for Electroplating Industry" standard, which undoubtedly promoted the domestic electroplating industry to take the path of clean production, provided technical guidance for enterprises to carry out clean production, and also provided a basis for the announcement of clean production performance of enterprises.
