Introduction to X-Rite White Balance Test Card

Many digital cameras and video cameras allow you to customize white balance. After performing this operation, regardless of the current lighting conditions, the camera's white, gray, and black will be restored to neutral, and the color cast inside the CCD will also be corrected. It is completely different from using a copy paper or a white T-shirt for white balance. Although the latter may appear neutral, it is not completely optically neutral and may be yellowish or contain fluorescent whitening agents, which can lead to incorrect white balance.

The ColorChecker white balance card can maintain optical neutrality at all times. This means they reflect an equal amount of red Green and blue light can always provide true white balance.

Take out the white balance card and place it in the scene, ensuring that the lighting is completely consistent with the one used for taking photos. Place the camera close to the white balance card until it fills the viewfinder, and follow the instructions for customizing white balance in the camera.
